About Backpackers.com

Our team is made up of a passionate, dispersed group of outdoor enthusiasts obsessed with great gear and getting outside. We currently have team members in San Francisco, Ventura, and Cape Town, and we’re looking for a remote, full time WordPress and PHP developer to join our small but growing team.

About the Position

In this role you will find creative ways to supercharge our PHP and WordPress environment, extending our core site functionality and transforming it into an engine capable of inspiring millions to get outside.


  • 3+ years of experience with strong knowledge of WordPress development
  • Deep knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Experience and interest in growth hacking, SEO, SEM, analytics, A/B testing, and personalization
  • Strong on system administration, git (and Github) and SQL databases
