ZAG Skis is leading the charge towards a greener future with its ZAGREEN Program, a comprehensive initiative launched in 2015 that aims to minimize the environmental impact of ski production.
Located just 200 meters from the lifts of Grand Montets Chamonix, ZAG LAB serves as the epicenter for testing and perfecting sustainable materials, reflecting the company’s commitment to the mantra “Explore More, Destroy Less.”
Carefully Selected Materials for a Greener Slope Experience
ZAG prioritizes sustainability throughout its supply chain, with 95% of materials sourced from within Europe, significantly reducing the company’s shipping footprint.
The skis feature natural flax fibers for vibration dampening, a bio-based top sheet, and recycled ski edges.
ZAG’s dedication to purposeful design extends beyond the slopes, as they’ve eliminated traditional plastic blister packaging, saving over 3000 lbs of plastic from landfills.
ZAG’s Sustainable Materials
- Recycled Ski Edges: ZAG exclusively utilizes recycled metal for the edges on all their skis, whether these edges are thick on alpine skis or thin on ultra-light skis.
- Biosourced Resin: In the production of skis at the Meditec factory in Tunisia, ZAG incorporates a resin that is 33% bio-sourced. This eco-friendly resin, introduced in 2016, primarily consists of oil derived from oil plants.
- Bio-Based Topsheet: A fresh inclusion for 23/24 in ZAG’s evolving ZAGREEN Program involves the incorporation of Recycled Base Materials. By utilizing 85% recycled raw material, ZAG enhances the performance of their ski bases significantly, all the while lessening their environmental footprint.
Taking a bold step forward, ZAG skis now ship in reusable GOTS-certified cotton bags, ensuring sustainability is interwoven into every facet of the ZAG skiing experience.
