Backpackers.com — With REI opting out of the traditional Black Friday sale madness, the outdoor world has been a bit scattered when it comes to deals. But a number of major discounters and brands have sales this weekend. REI itself announced an “up to 50% off sale” until the end of November 29, which is tonight.
We wanted to round up the major backpacking Black Friday deals for you, just in case you need some items on the cheap.

REI Sale — Ends November 29, 2015
REI’s #OptOutside campaign garnered more than a million participants this Black Friday. But, in the intense spirit of the pre-holiday rush, the company is offering a massive the weekend after Black Friday. Goods are up to 50% off, and going fast. Tons of items are discounted, but some front-page highlights are the half-off ENO OneLink Hammock Shelter System with DoubleNest Hammock and 40% off of REI Stratocloud jackets and vests. Backcountry Sale — Ends November 29, 2015
Not to be outdone, massive backpacking retailer Backcountry.com is also offering up to 50% deals until the end of the weekend. Free two-day shipping is included on orders over $50, and there are a ton of great deals. The site boasts up to 25% off Columbia and Marmot gear, and up to 30% off Patagonia. A few great ski and snowboard items are 50% off … just in time to hit the slopes.
Sierra Trading Post Sale — Ends November 29, 2015
Sierra Trading Post is even more marked down than usual. It boasts deals up to 70% off, though you’ll have to hunt for specific items you want. Also, if you spend more than $75, you can take an additional 25% off your order. But, to activate that deal, you’ll need to sign up for the mailing list. So it goes. Get on the deal!
Sierra Designs Holiday Sale
Sierra Designs, one of our favorite smaller manufacturers of quality backpacking gear, has made everything on its website 25% off. There are also select tents and sleeping bags that are 50% off, and certain jackets are 30% off. Pick up the Backcountry Bed Duo Synthetic for half off! Or a bunch of other really sweet gear. Oh, and shipping is free on all orders. There is no stated end to the sale … so get it while you can.
Moosejaw Thanksgiving Weekend Sale — Ends November 29, 2015
Moosejaw is another major backpacking retailer, and, like the others, it’s selling some great gear for super cheap. These deals are 29-35% off — we have no idea why it’s so specific — and there are some nice items to be had in the full range of backpacking gear, like Osprey Packs and Mountain Hardwear jackets. Get it while you can!
