Are you looking for a new way to challenge yourself this winter?

The 16th annual GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill event slated on February 11, 2023, is now open for registration.

The 16th Annual GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill Race

The Uphill has given participants of all ages a chance to conquer Arizona Snowbowl’s mountainous slopes on foot (use of spikes, skis, or snowshoes allowed) for 16 years while raising money for the non-profit organization Friends of Camp Colton, located in Arizona.

Danny Giovale, Founder and Owner of Kahtoola, said that each winter, they look forward to creating a safe, festive, and fun Uphill event and love that it has become an annual tradition in Flagstaff, Arizona.

“Coming together as a community to raise money for Friends of Camp Colton is a positive experience for everyone involved,” he said.

Adventurers have the option of competing individually or in four-person teams.

With racing categories ranging from the simple Fun Climb to the more difficult Midway or Lumberyard Brewing Company Agassiz Climbs, creative costumes are welcomed at this family-friendly event.

The event’s website allows for fundraising and direct donations, and 200 tickets are now on sale for the legendary “Golden Raffle,” which has 20 fantastic prizes valued at over $500 each.

All race registration and raffle proceeds benefit youth environmental education programs through Friends of Camp Colton.

After the race finishes, participants and spectators gather to enjoy food and festivities around cozy outdoor fire pits at the Arizona Snowbowl’s Fremont Restaurant & Bar, the event’s start/finish location.

To date, the GORE-TEX Kahtoola Uphill event has raised over $500,000 to help educate the next generation of environmental stewards.
