REI Offers How to Ride a Bike for Kids Classes

Riding a bike is one of the great joys of childhood. It’s also one of the most frustrating things for parents to teach.

Good thing REI Co-op is offering classes that will help kids learn how to ride a bike through step by step, engaging activities.

REI’s kid-friendly instructors will provide a combination of personalized and group instruction to help overcome fears, teach important skills such as starting and stopping, and help them understand how to maneuver their bike around obstacles.

Classes are for children 5-11 years old, and accompanying adults will be expected to support their budding cyclist throughout.

Students should arrive with their own bike with the training wheels removed, and they should be able to sit on the seat with their feet flat on the ground.

REI shall provide gears, including bike tools, comprised of items necessary for making quick adjustments and repairs in the field and a portable bike pump attached to the bike.

Group First Aid Kit will also be provided that would include wound care items and over-the-counter medications for minor injuries and illnesses.

A total of 261 sessions will be available from May 28 to September 25, 2022. Check REI’s cycling classes and events for details and sign-up.
