Unique Features of the Aventon Sinch Step-Through Foldable Electric Bike
The Sinch is a highly-refined, extremely versatile folding electric bike. It can go with you, and take you, anywhere.
A Versatile Folding Electric Bike
Perhaps the most unique feature of the Aventon Sinch is its foldability. The aluminum alloy frame features a step-through design that makes it so you don’t have to swing your leg over anything to get on or off the seat. As such, the frame appears to be one solid beam, but in fact, it folds in a hinge at its lowest point near where the pedals connect.
The frame, hinge, and locking latch are incredibly robust, and the electric connections have been reinforced. Additionally, there’s a rigid stand that props up the entire ebike when you do fold it in half. It’s all very well thought out.
Along with the frame, the pedals fold in, and the handlebars fold down. This creates a compact package that can easily be stowed in a small vehicle’s trunk or an RV’s exterior storage space. And the best part? It takes less than a minute to fold down or unpack.
Conveniently Powerful Electric Pedal Assist and Throttle
Though the Aventon Sinch does have seven easy-to-shift mechanical gears utilizing trigger shifters and a high-quality Shimano Acera derailleur, you can ride full-electric throttle if you so choose. The 672Wh battery can keep you cruising for 30 miles without a single rotation of the pedals after launch, and it’ll keep you moving for over 50 miles when using pedal assist.
Speaking of which, there are five levels of pedal assist. You can utilize the various levels to achieve higher top speeds of up to 20 MPH (top speed is limited by default, but you can make it higher in the settings menu of the backlit color display). Alternatively, you can use the different levels of pedal assist to dial in just the right amount of torque to help you power up hills or navigate uneven terrain while biking off-trail.
The electric power passes through a 500w brushless hub motor. The battery can be charged while in the ebike’s frame for convenience, or it can be unlocked with a key and taken indoors separately as well. The Aventon Sinch is rated IPX4 water-resistant, which means all electrical components are safe from rain and minor splashes, but it’d be best to avoid submerging your ebike.
A Remarkable Attention to Detail
We’ve already touched on the Aventon Sinch’s practicality and versatility, and a big part of that is because this is a fat tire electric bike. The 20-inch by 4-inch gum sidewall fat tires have a supple feel that absorbs potholes, roots, and rocks, and the fairly aggressive tread offers plenty of grip even when the streets or trails are slick with rain and mud.
Plus, the RST Guide suspension fork adds to the ride comfort, and the mechanical disc brakes provide supreme stopping power even in wet-weather conditions.
And the backlit display mounted on the handlebars provides all of the relevant information you need to know about your bike and your trip. It contains a speedometer, odometer, battery level, power output, and more. The settings can be adjusted on the fly, and you can connect your Aventon Sinch to the Aventon mobile smartphone app for even more features and insights.
Aventon Sinch Step-Through Electric Bike Use Cases
There are countless reasons to get and ways to use an electric bike—even moreso with the foldable Aventon Sinch. Here are a few of the ways in which we have used and would use this ebike.
- In-town commuter: Biking to and from work couldn’t be any easier. The Aventon Sinch has plenty of electric power for long commutes, and its packability means you can take it indoors and store it under your office desk if need be.
- Sightseeing: It’s often more fun to see the world by bike, rather than by car. Drive to your local wilderness area, park your car, unpack the Sinch, and go on a tour of the backroads. A fat tire electric bike is excellent for dirt road driving and beach biking.
- Car camping / Overlanding: You don’t need a large SUV or a vehicle bike-mounting setup to take the Aventon Sinch out for a fun weekend in the mountains. Just fold it down and place it in your trunk or backseat, and away you go! Having a fat tire electric bike will enable you to explore even further. You could use your ebike to make snack runs from camp to a nearby convenience store, cruise around a campground or park, or traverse bike-friendly trails.
- Bikepacking: Have you ever considered a long bikepacking trip? The Aventon Sinch can serve as a great touring ebike. Travel the paved and dirt roads from campground to campground, or other accommodations. You could traverse dozens of miles in a day and charge up the battery overnight.

The only negative is he weight. It great that it folds up, but doesn’t it still weigh 300 lbs? There are not a lot of people that thin they would need the peddle assistance and can lift 300 lbs. My wife is a wheelchair that has gotten larger over the years. At one time though she had a scooter that broke up into multiple parts that made it possible for me to put in the back of the van. Even removing the batteries would still leave a 230 pound part.
It does weigh 68 pounds. While lifting may not be possible for everyone, the folding aspect is still great for sliding under a desk, into a closet, or into the corner of a storage shed. The bike can be moved around on the ground when folded—you can slide it on the tire rubber to move it exactly where you need it. I’m currently keeping the Sinch in an outdoor storage closet where I have two other bikes, and the Sinch takes up much less floor space than the other two.
