My 1st backpacking was in Yosemite National Park I took my dad out 1 week into my trail time for a overnight trip dad and son time at the time my dad had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease we hiked up to little Yosemite Valley made lunch dropped off all the gear sauntered up to the top of Half Dome spent the afternoon came back to base camp made dinner spent the night got up in the morning made breakfast and sauntered back to the valley floor! Since then I use backpacking walking to bring peace and stability back into my life when my PTSD kicked in I turned back to nature the VA had me on 15 medications and had pretty much written me off as a human through me walking I have come back to being a human a man I walk every where I go unless its over 10 or 15 miles round trip I try borrowing a car this is I have come back STRONG Mind Body Spirit

I’d love to be able to take my sons camping soon, they’ve never been. This gear would ensure a very successful first time for them. I hope to win!

Would love to win some awesome gear to improve my camping experiences.

  5. S. A. Deckersays:

In future giveaways, please change “kayaker” to “paddler,” as some people still paddle canoes. Othewise, add “canoer or canoist” to the list of outdoor activity types.

Add a category for those who used to be very active but are no longer able to participate in some of the activities. How about those people who now prefer to stay in a rustic cabin but don’t want to go “glamping” or camping now?

    1. StLH2Osays:

Describes me too. Used to be able to hike and climb, now I have to stick to trails where I can use my mobility scooter.
At least my hubby and I can still go sailing (also not on list) or kayaking, fishing along the way.. As long as I can sit, I’m good to go.

  6. Mikesays:

Some very nice swag to show off and use while I enjoy all my outdoor activities.

Being homelss and slowly getting back on my feet again, it would be awesome to be able to cook and eat a hot protein enriched meal or meals.

Some look at me and think that an older guy like would not be out hiking. But I love it so much. Getting out and enjoying nature, just being out there and with being able breath the fresh air. to lay back at night and look up and see all the stars at night. Just to get away from all the crazy stuff in the towns and cities.

Attempting the ADK 46er after doing a great multitude of”lesser peaks”, I learned a great lesson of “climbing correct.” Climbing late in the afternoon with no lights, not enough water and poor clothing. Many others in mid winter @ -30 deg. Learned a great deal and am happy for all your help.

  26. Patrick Summerssays:

Love the sites. Can’t wait to delve into them. We live in Alaska and spend a great deal of time experiencing great outdoor adventures. Could have marked more, but skiing, mountain biker, running trails have slowed down for me. There is just so much adventure up here. We love it all.

  27. Clyde Smithsays:

My Triple Crown hiking buddy introduced me to Trail Magic 5 years ago. Never had so much joy bread and Magic in my life. Bucket list goal, hike a big trail but lacking proper equipment. Trail magic Karma
