LIVSN Ecotrek Trail Pants Overview
If there’s one thing all hikers have in common, it’s that we need to wear something to cover our lower halves—at least partially. Pants, shorts, skirts—something. And you’re going to have to wear something—it might as well be something you’re happy to wear.
The LIVSN Evotrek Trail Pants may just be what you’re looking for. They’re lightweight, durable hiking pants that are as practical as they are comfy—that is to say, very much so. They’re built for rugged adventure and will look right at home in-town for an after-hike dinner or drink, too.

Introducing the LIVSN Ecotrek Trail Pants
The LIVSN Ecotrek Trail Pants have been packed with unexpected features, yet the pants themselves remain lightweight despite all of the extras.
These pants comprise a blended fabric of 70% Blue Ocean recycled plastics, 25% nylon, and 5% spandex twill. This wombo combo seems to be the perfect blend of toughness, comfort, and breathability.
Born from Kickstarter, the LIVSN Ecotrek Pants blew expectations out of the water. They sold a ton, and for a good reason. These pants can do it all. Here’s a list of some of the Ecotrek’s features:
- Contoured, rolled waistband
- Body-shape pockets
- Gusseted crotch
- Roll-up leg with reflective taping
- Ventilated StrongMesh front pockets
- Double-needle stitching throughout
- DWR treated
- Reinforced pockets
- Articulated knees
And the list goes on to include didn’t-know-you-needed-them extra like extra-secure lockdown rear zippers, rain guard fabric over the rear pockets, hidden security pockets, a smartphone sleeve, and so much more.
Field Testing the LIVSN Ecotrek Pants
I put the LIVSN Ecotrek pants through months of wintertime abuse. After several hikes and biking trips, the Ecotreks quickly became my go-to hiking pants. They were ideal for the not-so-frigid winter temperatures of the Pacific Northwest’s coast and valleys.
I learned to appreciate all of the thought that went behind the design of these hiking pants.
The DWR coating allowed me to not care about the ever-wet weather of the PNW, the surprising durability made it so that sliding down river rocks on my butt was a worry-free affair, and the roll-up legs were fantastic for creek crossing and bike pedaling.
The wealth of pockets was great, too. While I never had to use all of them at once, the options were very convenient. My phone, keys, wallet, and snacks always had a secure spot where they were locked away behind zippers so that no matter how I moved or where I went, I wouldn’t lose a thing.

Key Qualities of the LIVSN Ecotrek Trail Pants
Comfort – 5 Stars
They’re just so light that it almost feels as if I was wearing nothing at all…nothing at all…nothing at all..(Ned Flanders, anyone?). Butt seriously, they’re quite comfy on the trail. I also appreciate the additional drawstring in the waistband that helps to make sure the pants won’t slip when you’re moving about.
Durability – 5 Stars
Impressively tough. They’re so thin that you’d think you would have to treat them with extra care, but they held up to rocks, dirt, and tree branches without fail.
Breathability – 4.5 Stars
The fabric is fairly breathable. The mesh front pockets provide extra ventilation and the roll-up pant legs help as well. More breathability around the thighs or back of the knee would be ideal, but I can live without it.
Practicality – 4.5 Stars
The LIVSN Ecotrek pants are remarkably versatile. They can survive a cold morning hike, a hot afternoon descent, and be worn out to dinner at a lodge or restaurant. They’re water-resistant and not wholly waterproof, but they’re not rain pants, so we shouldn’t judge them as such. You can do a lot in these pants.
Fit
The sizing options on LIVSN’s website span a wide range of waist sizes and pant lengths, so you’re sure to find exactly the size you need. That said, the fit is somewhat like a ‘regular’ jean pant. The zipper and button at the waist are aided by a drawcord, which is nice, and you can wear a belt with these pants, too.
Grievances
To keep this short and sweet—none. These pants are legit. I’m going to wear them whenever I can.
Final Word
The LIVSN Ecotrek Trail Pants are exceptional. They’re three-season hiking pants that you’ll want to wear during all of your outdoor activities and even when you’re mucking about a mountain town, too.

Sounds enticing. However, like most so-called green products, it’s too costly.
